A natural move onto Shopify helps Lightfoot & Wolfville offer their customers more
When we started working with Lightfoot & Wolfville in 2014, their first wines hadn’t even been released. At that time, we brought their story to life online with an award-winning WordPress website. Since then, their reputation has soared as they created prize-winning wines of unprecedented quality and an awe-inspiring retail space; they needed a website that could match.

Growing more than grapes
Just as we expected, as their audience grew, so did the nation-wide requests for Lightfoot & Wolfville products, as did the need for more content and capabilities from their ecommerce platform. In 2018, we moved their wine pages onto Shopify so customers could purchase their wine online for shipment across Canada. The team also began to sell event tickets and Wine Club subscriptions online. In March 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, they used Shopify’s local delivery feature to bring their wines directly to their customers’ front doors.
In September 2020, we launched Lightfoot & Wolfville’s beautiful new custom designed and developed website, now entirely on Shopify. The move has made it easier for them to update their own content, move audiences fluently around their website from product pages to venue spaces, and of course, because they’re on Shopify they’ll continue to have access to all of the great features Shopify adds on to their platform.
Updated look, responsive design
Lightfoot & Wolfville loved the design and feel of their original WordPress website, like the uniquely beautiful logo-explosion effect that highlights the different aspects of its heritage. Our lead designer kept this and many other components that they had developed the first time around but gave the site a more modern look.
Compelling and manageable content
Our developers harnessed the full power of Shopify Sections, so that the team at Lightfoot & Wolfville can manage and update their content themselves. They can choose what to feature, like gorgeous image galleries, FAQs, tasty seasonal menus for their restaurant, and special events, all in a unique, visually-appealing custom theme.
Online bookings for tasting experiences
Lightfoot & Wolfville now offer customers the ability to book tastings online so they can be sure to have the best experience possible when they arrive for their visit.
We worked with the team to update and streamline their frequently-asked questions; this has reduced the number of phone calls and emails.
Online event inquiry forms
Customized inquiry forms for weddings and private events help the event team at Lightfoot & Wolfville learn more before contacting interested parties, which streamlines the booking process for everyone.
When their original website launched, we continued to work with Lightfoot & Wolfville Vineyards as an extension of their in-house marketing team, helping with a huge range of services: press kit development, blogging, photography, email marketing, and print design.
Our designer has designed many stunning marketing materials for this client, but our favourites were created to promote Lightfoot & Wolfville’s award-winning wedding package at bridal trade shows.
Lightfoot & Wolfville’s winery business has grown...and grown...with Shopify. From the day they started to sell tickets online, almost all of their events have sold out. Each time they welcome new openings to their exclusive Wine Club, they fill within days. And in April 2020, when COVID-19 meant that the retail shop and farm had to be closed to the public, Lightfoot & Wolfville were able to continue to ship their wines across Canada, deliver wines directly to their customers’ doors in the Halifax and Annapolis Valley areas, and offer meal packages for pick-up from the vineyard’s driveway.
