Bringing 127 years of musical heritage online with Shopify
Located in Toronto since 1959, Remenyi House of Music has a long family history. From its humble beginning as a small violin shop in Budapest in 1890, the business has thrived. Today this iconic music store is operated by the founder’s grandson, the third generation committed to musical excellence.
Remenyi contacted us to help them combine their century-old reputation with a custom-built, contemporary ecommerce store. Our staff, which is teeming with musicians and music-lovers, had a particular interest in this project.

A thoughtful design
We wanted to honour the Remenyi family’s history against a backdrop of clean, modern design. We set a tone of tradition, experience and authenticity with their incredible collection of family photographs, juxtaposed with strong header images for impact.
Simplifying a large catalogue
Remenyi has an online catalogue of more than 15,000 products. To make this manageable for their customers, we created a complex taxonomy of nested collections and tags. The time we spent planning and customizing filters by department was well worth it, resulting in a great shopping experience.
Sage 300 integration
Remenyi had been successfully using a Sage 300 accounting system, an organized operation with complex optional fields and categories. We worked with our partners at eBridge to integrate Remenyi's existing accounting system with their new Shopify website, creating a seamless link between balancing the books and managing their products.
A continuing legacy
Musicians, music-lovers and renowned artists from around the world visit Remenyi for their selection and expertise. Their fine craftsmanship is world-class and they have one of the most acclaimed selections of quality pianos, guitars, string instruments, music books and sheet music in North America. We’re very proud to have worked with the Remenyi team on this project and are excited to watch their growth continue for the next generations.
