We love bakeries. Give us a flaky croissant and a great cup of coffee, and we’re happy campers.
So, when a small local French bakery was faced with the realization that no more walk-in traffic could mean closing its doors forever, Able Sense showed them that it didn’t have to be that way.
Le French Fix is a lovely little bakery cafe, but with its brick-and-mortar doors closed as per isolation/pandemic orders, it would need to pivot in how it did its business to survive. Ecommerce was the answer; but without onsite staff and a stream of walk-in customers, selling freshly-baked goods before they went stale was too big of a risk. The solution? Bake-at-home pastry kits.
We sat down with owner Geoffroy Chevalier to discuss what his best sellers were and how he could make them work for this new kind of business. Together, we refined his menu down to just a few items (great coffee beans and ready-to-bake pastries) that could be ordered online, prepared, and picked up curbside in a set window of time.
We set him up with a beautiful pre-built Shopify theme, and Shopify Payment handles the transactions. He provided content for the home page and descriptions of the available products, set up deadlines for ordering by Friday evening and a short pickup window on Saturdays, and we did the rest.
Je prends deux croissants, s’il vous plaît
The entire process, from initial meetings to launch, took four days. With only Instagram posts as marketing and emails to his existing customers, Le French Fix has refined its kits and selections each week, and remained in business at a time when many other small businesses have had to close. His loyal (and growing) customer base gets to enjoy his hand-crafted French pastries at home, and his email list continues to expand, so that he’ll have a larger network to communicate with, in whatever direction he takes his business next.
